I think my problem is: I'm sure this has been covered before

I think my problem is: I'm sure this has been covered before but do you think it's worth the time and effort spent on Torva, or do I have to RS Gold wait till 90 defence to purchase Malevolent as well as some Drygores? I'd use the Malevolent for bossing and most likely I'll also get a set of Bandos for melee-related issues. Unless I take the time to purchase Superior Tetsu. This is something to consider in the future because I still require to raise My Herblore, Prayer, and Summoning levels up quite a bit also.

If I have to clear anything up just notify me. It's not easy to estimate the amount you're doing here, but I'd suggest getting Torva, or saving up to purchase Torva. Malevolent becomes dusty, whereas Torva can be repaired. Also, it's well-rounded and can eliminate the necessity to use Bandos which is not very effective even for the mid-level task slayers, according to my experience.

Overall the Torva isn't the most expensive since you'll have to buy an entire new set of Malevolent regularly to keep up with how fast it's degrading. If you intend on only bossing, I'd consider a set of Malevolent, but just be aware that it's bound to turn into dust and you'll need to be able of making over 17m for the time you're bossing around with it in order to make it financially viable.

I am a sort of old-newbie. I used to play Runescape in the past, but not for long. I recently upgraded my computer and hadn't played for years. I downloaded the game to my new laptop over the weekend, and now I play the "new" Runescape - and have largely lost all the basic information Game controls and where to find shops as well as how to check my inventory, how to heal/regenerate hit points (I'm a free player only) etc.

I'm struggling to make sense of it - I've been able to remember how to cut down trees, start cooking/eating food to restore health, etc. I've figured out some of the basics however I don't know how to use spells, however, I'm not quite at enough to get them (Level 17)

I've been attempting my "Shadow over Arsdale" quest and have gotten through to the huge critter that kills you instantly if you come across it. I've read through the walkthrough and am aware that I have to master some form of ranged attack. However, I've haven't realized that I'm lacking archers - and I'm struggling to remember how to runescape buying account travel place-to-place to get to the Grand Exchange. I'm kind of 'based' from Taverly Do you know where to purchase archers?
