The other changes greatly improve the Franchise experience in general. The players no longer need to decide if they would like to play Cover 3 instead of Cover 2 as they did in Madden 21. Instead they are able to plan the way they would like to approach each game. They can also choose goals for each coach that are compatible with the game plan, like choosing an inside run strategy and creating an offensive coordinator goal of running for at least 150 yards. If a player was focusing on deep passing , and leaps into a lead early, they can swap to an inside-run focus to control the clock in the second half or if the plan was to stop quick routes but continue to be hit deep, they are able to change their tactics to take off all long-distance balls. It's not a complex strategy, but it's still a good improvement.
The most dramatic changes to the game's on-field features of Madden 22 are exclusive to modern consoles. However, PC players are left out somewhat surprisingly, which is big disappointment, considering that they're some of the better changes in recent years. The most significant of these is Next Gen Star Driven AI system, which draws on the NFL Next Gen Stats database for players to behave more like their real-world selves. It may sound like a simple concept at first however, not having to fight against Josh Allen throwing flats and curls twenty passes in a row does a lot to increase the experience of down-to down. This technique was first introduced with Madden 21 to some mild improvements, but Madden 22 is set to make it more effective as it evolves throughout the actual NFL season.
The second most important change has been the Dynamic Gameday features, which make each stadium have a more authentic experience.
