One hiking mishap, two ceremonies, a lot of travel, and adored Husky, along with a proposal towards the top of, watch for it, Dettifoss waterfall in Iceland. We wanted details, too, after which of course we'd to share…
When Shannon, an uplifting travel nurse, nature-lover, and all-around beautiful woman, fell via a patch of ice on Lake Michigan, one leg submerged within the frigid water, she was able to catch herself just over time to hear Aaron, (her now-husband!) say I love you the very first time. Needless to say, that’s when she knew she’d be marrying him. Always up to have an adventure, Aaron stuck by Shannon as she pursued her nursing career halfway across the nation. They hiked together, traveled together, and supported each other—and their relationship grew and grew. Shannon introduced Aaron to his first national park. Now, clients meet to travel to each one of these as a couple, both here within the U.S. and overseas.
Shannon and Aaron exchanged vows in an intimate outdoor ceremony during the summer, regardless of the uncertainty around the globe around them. Shannon’s favorite part? Share the knowledge with their immediate family, closest friends, and beloved Husky, Kana.
Shannon wore (and looked stunning in) our floral metallic fit-and-flare dress or wedding dresses with sleeves, “perfect,” she told us, for any small outdoor wedding. The dress was created in lace having a just-right midi length. To make the appearance truly her very own, Shannon added a belt from Etsy along with a few favorite bits of jewelry to focus on the neckline of the dress. We don’t have to tell you that she DIY’d all of the wedding florals and boutonnieres. (Of course, she did.)
Shannon’s Supermom brought citrusy lemon cake and feeltimes cupcakes for those. Lunch was a legendary array of sandwiches. (For Ceremony 2, if you’re wondering, they’re planning for a 4-tier wedding cake full of strawberry, chocolate, and cookie butter. Save us an item?)
For these avid hikers, the marriage theme needed to be national parks, with each table representing another public land, plus park entry sign-inspired table markers! Naturally, Shannon will walk on the aisle to some song through the band, The National Parks. They’ll dance to Flightless Bird, American Mouth, by Iron & Wine.
A state park in Oglesby, Illinois. Shannon and Aaron will renew their vows overlooking a river, encompassed by canyons, creeks, and sunflower fields. The reception is planned in a stone lodge having a large fireplace. (Amazing.) Guests are going to be invited to remain at the lodge or set up camp onsite. Shannon and Aaron will expend their wedding weekend hiking with family and friends. Although Shannon was disappointed to postpone, she’s hoping that in the coming year, a lot more of their loved ones are going to be able to attend.
What makes Shannon feel most beautiful? When Aaron says, eg elska big, meaning “I love you” in Icelandic. Sounds to us as if the happiest trails are ahead.
