In a new interview conducted by 4Gamer (translated via Nintendo Everything), Triangle Strategy producer Tomoya Asano spoke about the aesthetic of the graphics and how it's going to be implemented in the future games of the company buy d2r items. The interviewer was shocked that more independent games haven't been able to replicate the style, Asano revealed the reason that it's quite expensive!
"It's probably worth noting that it costs more than you'd think. It's a good match for the titles want from Square Enix. There's likely to be little to gain from companies copying this model," Asano told 4gamer.Fortunately this cost won't stop Square Enix from releasing more games in this style.
A remake of Live a Live is set to be released exclusively on Nintendo Switch in July, while a remake for Dragon Quest III is currently being worked on. There are a number of other games which could benefit from this style and it will be interesting to see what Square Enix does with HD-2D in the future. Although the company has evidently invested in this style of graphics, Asano went on to clarify that there isn't any yet a "definitive bible," and it will continue to evolve as games change.
"We haven't come up with something like this. The way it's stated differs per title, so the HD-2D style will be slightly different every time. When you play Live A Live for example it's the prehistoric setting that's different. prehistoric part will be different from the sci-fi scene.
Our variety of expressions has expanded thanks to the latest ideas we've conceived. "While the cost might be prohibitive for some developers, HD-2D certainly has worked as a selling point for many gamers buy diablo 2 resurrected items. I hope we'll be able to see Square Enix find new ways to further develop the design, for a lot more games to be released!
