Players can select to play as a character in an Classic Ladder

A long-awaited, Diablo II: Resurrected is finally seeing the first D2R Items Ladder season today, just seven months after its launch and two weeks after the game received its most significant balance update in the span of a decade.

Diablo II: Resurrected's inaugural Ladder season was a long time coming, as various post-launch issues forced Blizzard to delay the debut of the game until it could ensure the game's stabilityJust like in the first version of Diablo II, Diablo II Resurrected's Ladder system essentially serves as an element of seasonal, competitive playwhere players create unique, only Ladder-based characters and progress up the leaderboards.

Players can select to play as a character in an Classic Ladder (which encompasses the original game's four acts), Hardcore Classic Ladder (the same as Classic albeit with the added bonus of characters only having one life), or either Classic and Hardcore ladders that comprise everything in the Lord of Destruction expansion content.

A character created for a specific Ladder cannot play with other characters on that Ladder. After the buy diablo II resurrected items Ladder characters will be converted into non-Ladder characters, and will still have any Ladder-exclusive item available in that character's inventory.
