The company has applied for two trademarks in UK One trademark is for "OSRS Gold" and another that is for "RS Gold", with the filing informing that the company has registered the usage of the words as words. This will likely stop third-party sites from being able to claim that they sell RS Gold.

A simple Google search on either returns hundreds of websites, some of which have one of the terms in their URLs. They offer currency in RuneScape in exchange for real money. The announcement came on Oct. 13 that Jagex announced that it was ending for "real-world trading". In a blog post posted to their blog "The RuneScape Team" explained that "gold purchased through RWT real world trading is a major issue in any online game that uses a Cheap RuneScape gold currency."
