And then it has unique features that are not found in Diablo 4 with the shared open world and all of the things we talked about with the player's choice D2R Ladder Items. I think one of the things that I talked about in comparison with Diablo 2 is different is the idea of what's fundamental to your character as well as the equipment you use. This means that you're not just changing your clothes in order to change your look.
But I also think as part of this is the fact that some gamers felt Diablo might have been a bit more enlightened than the other two entries. That, in a few ways has made the game more accessible, because more than 65 million people enjoyed it. It's like, "Oh, it doesn't feel like D1 and D2. And 65 million people played it. This is a great game to play."
It's the reason we discuss "return to the dark side," I'm inclined to believe that it's because of that notion of honoring the past , and asking what you desire to see presented as a classic with a cult vibe to it, while also permitting ourselves to get further into the dark side. I'm sure people are going to be a little bit amazed when they visit D4. As they watch those cutscenes , you'll think "Oh, they meant it when they said return back to the darkness."
Shely: That's true. It's true. It's definitely a return to the dark. And I believe there are a lot of ways we've learned lessons from the previous games. You know, Paragon has a cap. One of the best inventions we came up with using legendary items, and to talk about the idea of having multiple builds available is that you are able to remove legendary power from an item and move it to a different item. This gives you the possibility of customizing your equipment.
Fergusson said that this has changed the game. This is certainly true. It's a fact that we don't get talked about enough. In the past, you would pick up a shield that had this thing that said you think, "Can summon two more Skeletal Mages. Then you're like "Oh I'm going to Cheap D2R Ladder Items maintain this... Your build requires two more mages." At some point, you'll outstrip it but I'm not going to surrender the shield.
