Making money (or Animal Crossing New Horizons Bells , in this case) is a big priority in Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Switch. After you upgrade your tent into a house, all of the subsequent house upgrades will cost Bells, and the prices get pretty astronomical, in typical Tom Nook fashion.
New Horizons offers several productive avenues for making lots of Bells in a short span of time. Here are some of the most productive methods we’ve found.
How to Make Bells Quickly in Animal Crossing New Horizons
It's important to state that as of the time of writing, there are no known money cheats or exploits available in Animal Crossing New Horizons. The methods outlined below are all legit, and will each be a great way to make Bells as quickly as possible. Here's the best ways to make Bells.
One of the best ways to make Bells early on in Animal Crossing New Horizons is to sell fish and bugs. Obviously, you'll want to donate the new species that you find to Blathers (more on that here), but spending some time fishing and catching bugs will quickly make you money. Fish like the Golden Trout are particularly lucrative, and keep an eye out for any Peacock butterflies while exploring your island (the butterflies are green and blue in color).
Catch Tarantulas
This method involves some bravery but it's absolutely worth it in the long run. Heading out at night, you may come across a tarantula. If you manage to catch one, you'll earn a lot of Bells, we're talking thousands here. There's a risk that you may get bitten and faint, so approach with care, you can read more on catching them in this guide.
Selling fossils. Thankfully, just like with fish and bugs, you only have to donate a fossil once to the museum. This is great, because each fossil is worth a good amount of bells, meaning you can earn a solid amount each day just by selling your archaeological discoveries.
Selling shells. Everyday a selection of shells will wash up on the shore of your island waiting for someone to collect them. That person is you. Collecting and selling these shells can net you a reliable, daily, profit.
Dig for Bells and Plant Money Trees
There are sometimes Bells buried in the ground. Visit our guide on where to find them here. Once you've dug out the hole, head into your inventory and pull out 10,000 Bells. Bury this back into the hole with a shovel and in a few days you'll have a money tree with 30,000 on it.
Sell Your Unwanted Items
You'll naturally collect a lot of junk that you don't need while playing Animal Crossing New Horizons. Furniture that doesn't fit your vibe can be sold, as can clothing. Consider selling items that you don't need.
Take Advantage of the Turnip Market
Turnips are unlocked after building Nook's Cranny. Every Sunday, you'll have the chance to buy Turnips. Each day, the price of Turnips will change. Selling on the right day can make you a lot of Bells, read more in our Turnips guide.
Shoot down floating presents. Sometimes, as you wander about your island, you might see a present attached to a balloon float through the sky. Using your slingshot, you'll be able to shoot down these presents and keep them for yourself. This might reward you with bells or an item, like a piece of furniture, that you can sell.
Fram Atlas Moths
There used to be a tarantula island exploit that was great for making loads of Bells. Now, Atlas Moths are in, so follow the steps in this guide to learn how to make Bells from Atlas Moths.
