Danuser's statements WoTLK Classic Gold are consistent with what he himself stated in an earlier developer preview of WoW's next patch 9.2. In the clip, Danuser described Shadowlands as the final chapter in one particular book of the World of Warcraft saga, and also that staff members were at work creating the second book.
New expansion announcements usually take place as part of Blizzard's annual BlizzCon event, next year's BlizzCon has been cancelled. Blizzard announced that it will instead be intending to invest the resources and time that normally go into putting on BlizzCon into its various development teams. The decision to pull the event is amidst ongoing controversy due to various ongoing discrimination and sexual harassment inquiries aimed at Activision Blizzard.
Patch 9.2. Eternity's End, is believed to be the last content update for Shadowlands, and will have players take on the expansion's villain Jailer as he seeks to breach the Sepulcher of the First Ones and rewrite the rules of creation. The patch will introduce the creation of a new zone, raids, and the return of the class-based Tier sets, but does not yet have a release date.
