Every Whip and Where to Find Them is Included in the Elden Ring

You are required to solve a problem as soon as it arises

You are required to solve a problem as soon as it arises. Mix it up really well. In Elden Ring, whips belong to an extremely uncommon category of weapon classes. They have a good reach and cannot be parried, but these benefits are accompanied by a number of drawbacks that make them less than ideal. They are unable to land critical hits and have fewer options available for the Ashes of War ability than other types of weapons. Not to even bring up the fact that there aren't very many of them to be found in the game. However, the majority of Elden Ring's whips have distinctive properties that set them apart from other options and make them suitable for use against enemies encountered in the Lands Between. And naturally, there are some of them that are more feasible than others. This is a list of every whip that can be found in Elden Ring items, along with the location of each one and a ranking of how worthwhile it would be to build around it.

Whip

The standard whip is not a very effective weapon. It suffers from all of the drawbacks associated with the weapon class, in addition to being the whip with the least amount of damage. And in contrast to the vast majority of the other Whips on this list, it does not feature any distinctive advantages that could tip the scales in its favor and make it a viable option. The fact that this particular whip can be acquired earlier in the game than any other Whip, and by a significant margin, is the only reason to make use of it.

You can find the whip on a dead body in the room at the bottom, just before you reach the Site of Grace, if you go through Castle Morne and jump down the cliffs and towers that are located behind it. The location is not exactly convenient, especially considering that Castle Morne is a non-required part of the game. However, the earliest location in which you will find an alternative is in Liurnia of the Lakes, and even then, it will only be available to you if you are willing to kill Diallos and bypass the rest of his quest line. Whether you like it or not, if you are going for a run that only involves whips, you will be using the whip for a good portion of the run.

Whip with Thorns

The Thorned Whip is one of two types of Whips, and it is the only one of the two that causes Bleed buildup. Bleed is a very powerful status effect that can rip enemies to shreds if they are not immune to it. It is also one of the only Whips that can be obtained twice in a single playthrough, despite the fact that doing so might not be a very enjoyable experience.

You will only need to farm a single particular foe, a Fire Prelate. Only a select few Fire Prelates can be found throughout the game, and the only one that can drop the Thorned Whip is the one that stands watch over the bridge to the north of the Zamor Ruins in the Mountaintops of the Giants. The odds of getting one as a drop aren't great, so if you don't get lucky, you might have to put in some work to get one. Even worse, there is a good chance that you will not find the effort to be worth it because there is a Whip further on this list that fits the same sort of build as the Thorned Whip does but is superior in pretty much every way.

Urumi

The Urumi resembles less a whip and more a really long, flexible sword from an aesthetic standpoint. You'll be able to hit targets at an even greater distance than usual thanks to its one-of-a-kind, charged-up, heavy attack that thrusts it forward like a spear. However, the fact that it deals the most damage out of all of the whips in Elden Ring items for sale is the primary selling point for it.

When you give it the Keen infusion, which grants it a rare S scaling in Dexterity, its damage output is at its most impressive. Citation neededIt is one of only three weapons in the game that can do so, and the other two are daggers, which have some of the shortest ranges in the game. This makes it one of the most unique and powerful weapons in the game. If all you need is a whip that deals a lot of damage when you hit things with it, then the Urumi is your best option. It may not have the bells and whistles of the best weapons in its class, but if that's all you want, it's your best bet. You can find it on the ramparts to the south-east of Caria Manor, where there is a group of Lesser Fingercreepers surrounding it.

Petal Whip, Made by Hoslow

  • Because of Hoslow's Petal Whip, the Thorned Whip is not ranked higher on this list than it otherwise would be

  • Because of its high base damage, it deals more damage than any other whip in the class other than the Urumi, and its Bleed buildup is superior to that of any other weapon in the class

  • You have a chance to obtain two Hoslow's Petal Whips during a single playthrough, much like the Thorned Whip, and they have the ability to inflict Hemorrhage on targets very quickly when dual-wielded

The first one can be obtained by finishing Diallos's questline or by killing Diallos himself, and the second one can be obtained by killing Juno, Diallos's brother, near the end of the Volcano Manor questline. There are some hoops that need to be jumped through, but at least you won't have to spend an hour or two eliminating a single foe.

Candleholder with a Magma Whip

One of the few advantages that whips have over other types of weapons is mitigated by the fact that the Magma Whip Candlestick is the shortest whip in the game. However, there are a few key ways in which it is different from the Whips that we have seen in the past. It is the first whip to come equipped with its very own Weapon Skill, which is called Sea of Magma. It causes you to whip the Magma Whip Candlestick around in a circle, leaving pools of magma on the ground that continue to deal damage to your foes even after the attack has ended. Furthermore, while all whips scale with Strength and Dexterity, the Magma Whip Candlestick also scales with Faith in addition to those two attributes. It is not particularly good scaling, as it reaches a maximum of B in Dexterity, C in Faith, and D in Strength, but it is sufficient to make the weapon usable for New Game Plus, as there are more stats that can be increased to gain damage.

Obtaining the Magma Whip Candlestick is not particularly challenging, but it is possible to fail to do so. You must continue Patches' questline until he moves to Volcano Manor, then join the Volcano Manor and complete Tanith's initial request after Patches has moved there. When that time comes, Patches will have a mission for you: eliminate the Great Horned Tragoth. After some prodding from you, Patches will hand over the Magma Whip Candlestick as a reward for completing this task. It should come as no surprise that the quest will fail if Patches is eliminated at any time before he reaches Volcano Manor. You must also obtain the Magma Whip Candlestick before you kill Praetor Rykard. This is because Patches will leave Volcano Manor if you kill Rykard, and he will no longer offer the quest to you after he has left.

Braid of the Giant, Red

There are many similarities between the Giant's Red Braid and the Magma Whip Candlestick. It has a powerful Weapon Skill in Flame Dance, which also involves twirling the weapon in a large arc. This skill can be seen in action in the video below. Flame Dance, on the other hand, has a greater range and deals damage more quickly than Sea of Magma. This makes it more versatile than Sea of Magma, despite the fact that its damage potential is lower because it does not create magma pools.

The Giant's Red Braid also has Faith scaling, but its scaling is significantly better than that of the Magma Whip Candlestick. When fully upgraded, the Giant's Red Braid grants a B in both Strength and Faith, along with a C in Dexterity. Because of its high scaling in general, it is an excellent choice for New Game Plus and beyond due to the fact that Strength is one of the stats that it can scale, making it the only whip that can be used for Strength builds. And this is significant given that you won't be able to acquire the Giant's Red Braid until a very late stage in the game. You will need to defeat the Fire Giant, which is why the location is called Flame Peak, and then speak with Enia in the Roundtable Hold to trade the Remembrance of the Fire Giant that he drops.
