Over the last few many years Sony is accelerating its newly formed PlayStation Productions. The production company is involved in at-least 7 projects that are known D2R Items, many of which are way beyond the early stages of being simply a concept on whiteboards.
Some of these have already been shot, some are preparing to shoot while others are in the scripting phase The picture is clear. Naturally, PlayStation is very committed to this project and this can't be said of a bunch of other studios who are trying to make video games more adaptable.
PlayStation Productions released its first project earlier this year in the form of that long-awaited Uncharted. The film adaptation of Naughty Dog's beloved game was in process for more than a decade, exchanging hands with numerous directors, writers, and actors.
The film's final version ended featuring Tom Holland in the role of Nathan Drake and although the film was not a big hit with criticsbut it did pull in plenty of money at the box office and also sets the stage for the possibility of a sequel, which means it's likely more live-action Nathan Drake adventures are on the way at some point. A future Uncharted sequel is far from the all that Sony is working on however.
