I can't say I have totally escaped that tendency. And Animal Crossing Bells doing this doesn't make me"better" or some thing. But I think that encouraging people to perform characters outside their reality is nice. It will help us think beyond our own little bubble of truth. That is all.Tom nook is actually a tanuki so I'm afraid you are going to have to have massive tanuki balls tattoo onto him. F.
(that being said, while I can't truly understand what it feels like, I do understand that for POC, that line between"just treat us just like everyone else" and"how dare you pretend to be us" is complex and can differ from person to person. All I can do is attempt to be kind.) I don't believe there are scenarios where dangers, doxxing, or telling someone to kill themselves is fine, and *especially* even when it comes to pixel buns! I literally can't imagine myself telling someone to kill themselves, even anonymously.
I really don't have an opinion to share on this play but I want to point out this Animal Crossing games have terrible wavy hairstyles. I have curly hair and have always tried to create my characters seem like me IRL. I have never managed to locate anything that does not appear to be a sail boat on my toons head.I am kidding. Tanuki are called raccoon dogs and Tom Nook is referred to as a raccoon from the localized version of the game.
Expecting this level of comprehension can be vaguely problematic. I'm Australian. I have got Lots of cultural vulnerability to Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander, Central and Indoor and SE Asian PoC. Afro buns are not one of the traditional hairstyles for this region that I am aware. There is categorically no way I'd have relating to this cartoon-rendered hair design with any particular culture, and I am not sure why I must be expected to. But I am sure I would be both persecuted on Twitter and it simply seems equally as insular to Animal Crossing Items For Sale do so.
