Patch 2.3 is currently scheduled to launch in early December. This announcement comes amid the ongoing fallout of a variety of litigations and investigations regarding alleged discrimination and sexual harassment within Activision Blizzard.
Since there is no BlizzCon (or BlizzConline) this year, fans of games such as World of Warcraft, Diablo, as well as Diablo want to know when any new announcements on the future of each game will be made. According to Blizzard chief Mike Ybarra, updates on what's coming next for these franchises will be coming "over the coming weeks."
The update comes in the shape of a tweet, itself as a response to a player's post on the news that Blizzard has hired for a survival game set in a new universe. A fan tweeted that Blizzard might be looking to "throw some manpower" at some of Blizzard's existing games and Ybarra responded with this:

Big announcements about Blizzard's most famous franchises such as World of Warcraft and Diablo typically happen at BlizzCon which usually is held in November. The ongoing COVID-19 outbreak has created a rift in the system. Blizzard changed to an online BlizzCon event in February 2021. It also had planned an online version in February 2022. BlizzCon 2022 was eventually cancelled due to ongoing fallouts from multiple sexual harassment and discrimination lawsuits and investigations involving Activision Blizzard.
