Deckard Cain is a Horadric scholar who is D2R Items proficient in the obscure lore of Sanctuary and its esoteric history. He is also believed to be the last Horadrim, an ancient group of wizards and mages founded by the archangel Tyrael to fight the three Prime Evils, namely the Lord of Destruction Baal The Lord of Hatred Mephisto, and the title Diablo, who is the god of Terror.
In 1202. Deckard was born and was raised to the Sanctuary Village of Tristram to a tanner dad and his mother, Aderes Cain, who insisted that Deckard follow in her family's traditions and take the Cain name, instead of the one of his father. When he was a kid, he and his fellow children from Tristram would sit around Aderes as she told tales of the heroic deeds of the Horadrim who she was descended from.
Growing up, Deckard was proud of his roots as an Horadrim and often boasted about being the 'last of the Horadrim.' He had a dream of completing his duty as the Horadrim in defeating evil and protecting all of humanity all the way from Caldeum up to Khanduras in the for the sake of justice. But when Deckard suffered the death of his father to illness, things started to take an extreme turn and his trust in his mother began to fade.
He was always a scholarly kind of guy and when he wasn't playing with his dog or stealing eggs, he'd gather history books. In a state of madness, Aderes decided to burn all these books since she believed the only "proper reading' was the texts written by Deckard's ancestor, Jered Cain.
As a result, he stopped reading the stories of his mother and believed that they were just fables, especially that of the existence of angels and demons - - a notion that was not well-liked in Diablo. Deckard fled his cheap D2R Ladder Items home and his mother declared him 'lost..'
