It seems that every time there's a new medieval multiplayer game available on Steam it explodes in popularity. The Dark and Darker demo is in the process of doing just the same thing. The premise is that it's an extract looter which is similar to an online battle royale except that you're required to get out by stealing the loot you collect. The player and three other players enter the dark and maze-like dungeon as a slew of Dark And Darker Gold other players are.
As time goes by the danger zone is encircling around you and puts you to be on top of each the other until you have a winner. In the same way as Battle Royale, you arm yourself with the best equipment as the game progresses, searching the chests and places to get more powerful equipment and consumables such as bandsages and health potions.
However, there's something else going on. First of all you're classified by the class you belong to. There are rangers, rogues barbarians, wizards clerics,. And each one has their own unique abilities they can perform - and, in the case of magicians they can use spells. They can also be leveled up and influenced by bonuses as your character develops.
There's also a little determination to the game that allows you can acquire and equip higher quality weapons and equipment, and refill consumables in between dungeon dives. However, this is contingent on you getting through the mazes that you're exploring without damage. If you fail to locate a way to exit the cave, the swarm - the storm will take the best of you, and you'll be left without anything.
Another thing to be aware of is that there are computer-controlled enemies, like Skeletons in the dungeons as well. It's, therefore, an online game that is PvPvE. When you play it, it's awkward and intense and dark. It's a game of moving forward and refraining from making too much noise or drawing attention to yourself using an erupting torch, but all your actions create noise. You won't be able see much in certain areas without buying Dark And Darker Gold torch.
