The Helltides are one of the most interesting new endgame features in Diablo 4, giving you a reason to investigate areas of Diablo 4 that you have already explored a great deal, such as The Fractured Peaks or Scosglen. Even better, Helltides are a great place to find loot, and you can spend special currencies to increase your chances of obtaining items that fit a particular armor or weapon slot. We are going to cover everything you need to know about Helltides in this Diablo 4 guide. This includes when Helltides spawn as well as the loot that can be obtained from them. HOW LONG DO HELLTIDES LAST? Once you have completed World Tier 3: Nightmare, you will notice that Helltides appear on the map at regular intervals of one hour. Each Helltide has a lifespan of only one hour after it first spawns in the world. HOW DO YOU LOCATEE THE HELLTIDES? If you open the map, finding Helltides is not too difficult because an entire section of a region will turn blood red when you get close to it, as shown here:Image: Blizzard Entertainment via PolygonWithin this zone, you will come across a number of monsters with higher level requirements, in addition to some new resource nodes, such as Fiend Roses.

You will receive Aberrant Cinders in exchange for killing enemies in a Helltide, completing events, or doing pretty much anything else

  • These tiny red shards are extremely valuable because you can trade them in for better loot if you have enough of them

  • The catch is that chests made of Aberrant Cinder are very expensive, and every time you die, you will lose fifty percent of the Aberrant Cinders you currently possess

  • If you leave the Helltide area and return while it is still active, you will not lose any of your Cinders

  • This is the good news

  • Cinders are only considered stale once the Helltide from which you obtained them has been eradicated

  • HOW TO DISPOSE OF YOUR ABNORMAL CANDERSImage: Blizzard Entertainment via PolygonIf you take a look at your map while you're adventuring through the Helltide, you'll notice that there are several different chests scattered throughout the area

  • There are some of these that are labeled as "weapon chests," and there are others that are labeled as "protection" chests

  • If you approach these chests, you will notice a symbol floating above them

  • This symbol will indicate the type of item that will drop from the chest, such as a helmet, chest armor, one-handed weapons, or something else

The following table lists the amounts of Aberrant Cinders required to purchase the various types of chests:The Tortured Gift of Protection (armor), which requires 75 Aberrant Cinders to purchase. Gift of Jewellery (Rings and Amulets) Obtained Through Torture — 125 Aberrant CindersThe Tortured Gift of Weaponry, consisting of both one-handed and two-handed weapons, can be purchased for 150 Aberrant Cinders. The Tortured Gift of Mysteries contains a variety of items and costs 175 Aberrant Cinders to purchase. When you open a chest that you have purchased, there is a good chance that more than one legendary item will drop for you, and each chest drops multiple pieces of gear. This is a fantastic method for specifically improving one piece of armor that you have been having trouble replacing by way of completing dungeons or other activities. It's possible that you've recognized that one of these chests is different from the other. During each and every Helltide, the purchase of the Tortured Gift of Mysteries, which the community also refers to as the "mystery chest" on occasion, is the one that represents the best value for money.
