The new system made perimeter defense more efficient. It was harder to block perimeter shots. The gameplay was slightly more balanced between offense and defense. Layups were eliminated by the new shot contest system.
The proximity requirements rendered it difficult to Buy 2K22 MT layup, which are one of the most effective looks in basketball. This is a simple issue to fix. 2K Sports could modify the finishing badges to increase the likelihood of getting layups.
