Try out NBA 2K21's new gameplay controllers using its demo in 2 weeks

Mike Wang, Visual Concepts' gameplay manager for the NBA 2K series, dug into the Pro Stick modifications in a post Thursday that announced the demonstration's availability. Taking a shot with the Guru Stick (a button control also begins a shooter ) is currently done by holding the proper stick down, only. In past versions of this game, an individual could hold the rod in any direction, and it might cue up a context-appropriate shot effort. That holds true for starting layups and dunks.

Furthermore, Wang states NBA 2K21's Pro Stick will reestablish something that was tried and did not really work: coordinating with the shot rod. In this year's game, when players take a shot using the Pro Stick, the timing window will shift to a mini-targeting system. "So instead of trying to stop the shot meter when you reach the perfect discharge window, you fix the Pro Stick in real time to hit the ideal center aim point," Wang explained. "The target window resizes dynamically based on player skill, shooting selection, and just how well the shooter is contested, and may also shift into the right or left depending on the shooter's level of difficulty"

Misses left or right of the target will travel in this direction in the game. Wang added that time plays an optional part in Shot Stick Aiming:"You won't be penalized for using the entire shooting movement to get the sweet spot." But players looking for an additional layer of challenge, where a miss can turn to a create, can tap on a trigger button at the apex of their participant's shooting movement. As is customary when Sport Concepts presents a new control strategy, it is purely optional; players who are more comfortable with the old timing-window method could disable Shot Stick Aiming, Wang explained.

The controls are not necessarily on display from the gameplay trailer which 2K Sports published. But what they produce is, and Visual Concepts always likes to slip depictions of new cartoons -- signature moves particularly blocks, and interactions -- to these hype reels. Wang said that a slew of signature defensive movement fashions were added to NBA 2K21, to match the trademark dribble styles introduced in NBA 2K20.

"Along with this, motion has experienced several refinements, both without and with, to provide a more consistent and more responsive feel on the rods," explained Wang. NBA 2K21 starts Sept. 4 on Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One. Portland's Damian Lillard is the cover star, with the Kobe Bryant gracing the front of the edition. A variant for PlayStation 5 and Buy MT 2K21 Xbox collection X will follow after this season, with New Orleans' Zion Williamson on the packshot.
