SARAH & FERGHAL: REAL BRIDE STORY

We reached the decision very in the early stages to postpone our wedding in 2020 and continued to savor the build-up for an additional year, however, I enjoy organizing events and planning all of the little information on every occasion so I could be lying if I said I didn't love thi

I caused so many amazing vendors who made everything easier and brought my vision alive. I would like to go back and do all of it again, perhaps not the pandemic stuff though!

Ferghal and I met in 2015 via a set-up by mutual friends. We had no clue that over the following 18 months we could be engaged and planning our special day. I guess when you are aware, you realize! Ferghal proposed in my experience privately in your own home after arriving back from the very stressful year completing my PGCE where we did long-distance for 9 months. It was very understated but romantic, we celebrated at our local pub after with these close friends that were typical in our relationship up to now.

I had ideas in my head of the items I wanted during my wedding dress and had some screenshots of dresses I liked, but ironically none of those ideas suited me ultimately. I was fearful I wasn't getting a dress that flattered my shape. I had never been previously involved with any weddings or ever turn up to a bridal shop so I had no clue what I is at for real.

I picked the lace wedding dress as when I use it I just felt amazing. It suited my petite frame so well and I just didn't wish to take it off. The material is rich and suited my complexion. I loved the way it came with a sizable train and detachable bow…this felt like I was getting two dresses for that price of one and I knew that I could transition from day to night easily. Plus my mate cried when I walked out inside it, this never happens! Click

We got married in St Peter's Church, Lurgan Co. Armagh; the same church where my Mum and Dad got married in the 80s. It is probably the most beautiful chapels within the local area. Our reception happened in Cabra Castle Co. Cavan, our dream venue which we booked during our first visit in July 2017. I loved this venue for that classic, antique atmosphere which needed hardly any in terms of decoration, we simply let the background and character speak for themselves. The Irish Wolfhound greeting was an additional benefit to our day! I didn't possess a specific theme in your mind but I knew that I wanted the BIG DAY…I wanted everything to become simple and classy to tie in using the classic benefit of the Castle but I wanted a ballroom full of friends and family.

Our photographer Mark McCullough Photography was simply the very best to use, his non-intrusive photography style suited the theme in our day so well, we simply wanted to relax and relish the company of our family and friends, and that we feel that Mark captured the joy in our day so well.

After postponing with all of the uncertainty within the world at this time filled me with dread within the lead up towards the wedding, I was constantly checking this news regarding restrictions, and to become honest it did remove a bit of the development, however, the stars aligned and our day discontinued without a hitch, the weather was beautiful, not too typical to have an Irish wedding. We smiled from start to finish.

My favorite area of the day was getting ready at my Mum's house that morning with my wedding party, it am much fun, very relaxed and, full of emotion.

I think after going through a global pandemic and numerous lockdowns causing a lot of uncertainty and postponing, I was just so grateful just to walk down the aisle and say I do. We were blessed to have the very best day and to become able to celebrate in a beautiful venue. Even the sun arrived on the scene for us…it had been like a dream become a reality.
