I know they said it would be a lot of RuneScape gold work to change the entire body model, but I don't find it being impossible to at least update the faces and features. It would not alter the size or height/position therefore it should not influence any equipment. Reminder: Chat-heads really are a thing, and there is an insanely enormous amount of those. Consider your player apparel: hairstyle, beardhair color. The majority of those would need to be altered to reflect the new models - also female personalities have horse legs. If they are going to update the mind, they might too update the body - that, again, is a MASSIVE undertaking.
Ok but like if every gaming company said it'd be too much work to upgrade models all MMOs would nevertheless have versions from the early 2000s. There comes a time when the face of your game is indeed outdated and awful that its damaging your brand a good deal. Tell me somebody who doesnt play Runescape will look at the personality on the right and be like"looks trendy wanna play". I meanthis game is constructed upon almost ancient coding techniques and also a custom in-house system. That being said - I agree they could do some thing - but I'm simply stating why they said they wouldn't, and it, at least marginally, logically makes sense.
It'd be quite an investment for them to have to make. (And let us be honest, the money that you spend does not actually go back into Runescape like it needs to, therefore GL.) Its extremely depressing that theres many updates/suggestions that cant veen be contemplated because engine old or work coding. I get its hard but at the exact same time cant just stay locked where we are because of these reasons, something needs to happen. One day there'll be a huge, gamebreaking insect (something Runescape cant recover from or changes it forever, like the dupe glitch x100) due to this spaghetti code nightmare.
You have the well respected veteran coder turned supervisor and he is behind making use of a proprietary or exceptionally uncommon code speech. But you would not understand if there were ways to make it work anyhow, as it's all undocumented.
In most instances I've seen, the developers in that situation wind up getting replaced through an outsourced replacement program. This component could be challenging since the program is the whole business and it's custom IP, but I can imagine there are a billion technology consultencies that would tell Jagex they can convert all of Runescape to Buy RS gold -insert well known programming language- at the click of a button, since that is what tech consultents always state to obtain a contract. It is possible they've already squandered their money with businesses like that.
